The Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra is delighted to help start your festive season with two afternoon concerts of swinging jazz. Playing two new venues for the orchestra, we start in Glasgow at The Renfield Centre and then travel to Leith Theatre in Edinburgh for concerts that will feature a fantastic line up of young musicians.
Showing endless talent, improvisational skill, exuberance and verve, the future for jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of saxophonist Tommy Smith, play a varied repertoire ranging from classic jazz to present day big band charts as they pay tribute to some great jazz legends.
It is over fifteen years since the inception of the TSYJO, and in that time, the orchestra has been a platform for some of the most exciting young jazz musicians in the UK. The future for jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of Scotland’s distinguished jazz musician, Tommy Smith play a varied repertoire ranging from classic jazz to present day big band charts. Each showing endless talent, exuberance and improvisational skills will help create amazing concerts of scintillating music.
