The Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra is delighted to offer four stunning concerts this Spring that build on the marvellous performances that they played last year in some great new venues. At times there were more than 30 musicians on stage, and the incredible sound and improvisational talent nearly blew the audience away! Our Spring concerts will start in March with concerts in Glasgow and Edinburgh and then continue in Edinburgh and Stirling in May.
It is over fifteen years since the inception of the TSYJO, and in that time, the orchestra has been a platform for some of the most exciting young jazz musicians in the UK. With several new members joining us, our present ensemble is no exception and the future for jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of Scotland’s distinguished jazz musician, Tommy Smith play a repertoire that includes music from jazz legends such as Ellington, Basie, or Gillespie and tracks from their latest CD, Effervescence.
Bring your family and friends to enjoy four fantastic afternoon concerts as these young players showcase endless musicianship and energy, in extraordinary concerts of outstanding music.
Please do join us – we look forward to welcoming you.
