May 2017: 15th Anniversary Concerts

The Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra
is delighted to celebrate the start of their 15th anniversary year with a series of three stunning May concerts.  These will feature a new line up young jazz musicians who demonstrate endless talent and improvisational skills, and will pay tribute to some of the great legendary names in jazz. It is fifteen years since the inception of the TSYJO, and in that time, the orchestra has been a platform for some of the most exciting young jazz musicians in the UK and our present ensemble is no exception as it includes several award-winners and critically acclaimed individuals who have won recognition and approval from audiences and press alike.

The future for jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of Scotland’s most distinguished jazz musician, Tommy Smith play a repertoire that includes music from jazz legends such as Ellington, Basie, and Gillespie and tracks from their newest CD, Effervescence.

Bring your family and friends to enjoy a fantastic evening as these young players showcase endless musicianship and energy, in an extraordinary concert of outstanding music.  Please do  to join us – we look forward to welcoming you.
